Mt. Vernon Church Family,
Our time together will end in a few days. It has been a pleasure for me to work with you for the last four months. You have been through many challenges in the last few years, and it was my intent to help you get settled enough to put a period (.) at the end of the last chapter of life at the church. Placing a period doesn’t mean forgetting, it means making those years a happy memory and begin to establish a ‘New Normal’ to get moving into an exciting future of spiritual growth, rejuvenation of your spirits, revitalize your energy and following God’s wisdom and discernment. A ‘New Normal’ means preparing your hearts, minds, and soul for a new experience, yet worshipping God with all your heart, soul, and mind. Welcoming others with a warm smile, friendly handshake and making room for them to work in ministry alongside you!
There is nothing more certain in life than change. It is time, my friends, to welcome change. You can’t keep doing the same things the same old way and expect different results. The handwriting is on the wall. Change is necessary to keep the church alive and moving forward. Please don’t hold God’s church back and prevent many lives from being saved and growing in a positive relationship with the Lord. Please don’t keep your newfound growth and energy to yourself, because it is time to open the doors of the church and invite others in.
Please don’t let my time with you be in vain! Please get the momentum moving forward, and forward, and forward! Don’t keep looking back, but with prayer and supplication, talk to God, listen for His guidance, and take a step forward and then another step and keep stepping according to the Lord’s promptings! Be blessed beyond measure and keep your eyes and ears focused on the Lord.
Peace and Love,
Pastor Hazeline “Hazel” Jackson
