Greetings Mt. Vernon Family,
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away, Matthew 24:35.
In Matthew 24, the disciples came to Jesus and asked Him, “What will be the sign of your coming and, of the end of the age?” Jesus said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you.” Meaning there is a definite part we play in not being misled. We must be discerning and proactive particularly in this age of alternative truths, misinformation, deception, and lies. Jesus warns of false Christs, and false prophets. He tells us plainly that there will be wars and rumors of wars, famines, earthquakes and tribulation. Lawlessness will increase and people’s love will grow cold. Believers will be hated and killed for His namesake. Many will fall away from the truth and betray and hate one another. If Jesus words will by no means pass away, and all these things SHALL come to pass, how then shall we pray? What shall we do? In this passage Jesus tells us along with being discerning, we must endure until the end, preach the gospel, and stay on the ready for His return. Father give us keen discernment, strength to endure, the boldness to proclaim your word and the discipline to prepare our spirits, souls, and our bodies for Jesus’ return. Amen!
AMEN!
Pastor Deborah Giles
