Greetings Mt. Vernon Family,

Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the second time…'Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know Jeremiah 33:1-3.

God encourages His children to pray, to earnestly seek His face. God not only promises to answer us, but to tell us great and mighty things we do not know. A word from our Father can put our minds at ease and keep us from stumbling. To our personal requests, God answers our prayers with yes, no or wait. James 4:2 tells us we have not because we ask not. Prayer is God’s appointed way for Christians to obtain divine resources on earth. Prayer is a privilege, but for many Christians a neglected privilege. Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:18, to “offer prayers and petitions in the Spirit all the time. Stay alert by hanging in there and praying for all believers.” We must always have an attitude of prayer; always be persistent in prayer and alert; we must pray until we have an answer. Why? Because we have an enemy, the devil, who does everything he can to discourage, disrupt, and distract us from prayer. God wants to show us His power, “great and mighty things.” But many times, we stop short of praying through. Praying until we have an answer. Prayer is our responsibility as Christians. We are a holy priesthood. Our job is to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ 1Pe 2:5. Spending time earnestly seeking God’s face in prayer about someone’s salvation, deliverance, healing or spiritual growth, is an acceptable sacrifice. So, PRAY THEM THROUGH. Remember, somebody PRAYED YOU THROUGH. They prayed for you until God said yes.

Amen!

Pastor Deborah Giles
