Greetings to my Beloved Mt. Vernon Family and Friends,
We are at the end of our second full week of fasting and prayer during this season of Lent. I pray all is well with you and that you are taking the time to pause, reflect, and pray three times a day using the words and scriptures I text to you. While some of us are doing the Daniel Fast or a modified version of it, the important part is that you participate in our corporate fasting and prayer. If you cannot do the Daniel Fast, there are many things you can give up for Lent such as smoking, drinking alcohol, sweets, fried foods, sodas, coffee etc. We can also give up gossiping, gambling, profanity, and other habits that are not pleasing to God. Again, fasting is a discipline, and we are disciples of Jesus Christ. A spiritually disciplined life is where Jesus has called us. I look forward to all that God is doing and will do as we continue to seek God’s face in prayer during this season of Lent. I thank God for the strongholds that are being broken in our lives. I thank God for new strength being released in our spirit, souls, and bodies. I thank God for healing and comfort. I thank God for releasing His power, anointing, and boldness in the Mt. Vernon family to speak the word of God and do a great work in the Fifth Ward Community. Below are next week’s words where we will pause, reflect and pray (March 21-26):
Day | Word | Scripture |
Monday | Treasure | Matthew 6:21 |
Tuesday | Listen | James 1:19 |
Wednesday | Poor | Luke 4:18 |
Thursday | Forgiven | Luke 5:20 |
Friday | Peace | John 14:27 |
Saturday | Rest | Matthew 11:28 |
Be Richly Blessed,
Pastor Deborah Giles
