Mt. Vernon Family,
One of the blessings for many African American children growing up is that we have other others. We have grandmothers, godmothers, aunties, adopted mothers, older sisters and church mothers, who love and nurture us. I am thankful for all my moms who are now with Jesus. I especially miss my aunt Anne.
I invite you to share a message or a personal story/life lesson from the woman who mothered you. Below I have shared just one of many precious memories.
My mother's birthday was May 9. Some years her birthday fell on Mother's Day. My aunt Clara (a seamstress) helped a little. Mama wore my dress to
church that Mother's Day. I can still see her smile. Sometimes it is the simple things in life that make lasting, loving memories.
We pray that this day brings phone calls and cards, love and light, your way, mothers and mothering women. We love you!
Stay in prayer and Stay Safe,
Pastor Deborah Giles
