Greetings Mt. Vernon Family,

Love the LORD, all His faithful people! The LORD preserves those who are true to Him, but the proud He pays back in full. 24 Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD Psalm 31:23-24.

Being faithful means being loyal, devoted, trustworthy, responsible, and obedient to God. Faithfulness is a choice. Faithful people keep their word. More importantly as Christians we are led by the Spirit and we keep God’s word. The Bible is the Word of God. To dismiss God’s word is to dismiss God Himself.

God is sovereign. He does what He wants, when He wants, and how He wants to do it. But God is also faithful. He keeps His word. "God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good (Num. 23:19)?”

God wants His children to be faithful, and why shouldn’t He? When we were born again, justified, God sent the Holy Spirit to live in our hearts. Faithfulness is fruit of the Holy Spirit. As we are led by the Spirit of God and remain true to God and His word, through our trials and tribulations, we grow in faithfulness. In your relationship with God, you can always trust God to be faithful. But can God trust you? Trust and faithfulness in our relationships work both ways.

Lord, we thank You that faithfulness is fruit of the Holy Spirit. It is Your Character growing in us. Give us the strength to be faithful to Your word, no matter what those around us may say or do. To resist Your word is to resist You.

Amen!

Pastor Deborah Giles
