Dear Mt. Vernon Family,

I want to thank everyone who donated food or came out and supported the “Feed Fifth Ward” event. I am especially proud of our youth who came out and help set up and advertised. Praise God, Mt. Vernon fed three hundred people.

The last ten days our nation has been gripped with tension, outrage and mourning because of the murder of another African American son, George Floyd, at the hands of white Policemen. Their actions left us in indescribable pain, grasping for words. As painful as this is, we must by faith draw on the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. He is our comforter, our advocate, our guide Who leads us. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good Rom. 12:21. Father, thank You for the Holy Spirit Who intercedes on our behalf with groans too deep for words. Dismantle the systemic racism in our country. Expose and shatter the bonds of wickedness. Lord, balance the scales of justice, yet temper them with Your mercy. Convict our nation of sin, righteousness and judgment Lord. Send revival to Your church worldwide. Lord bring about true repentance and obedience of Faith in Christ in Jesus Name, Amen.
