Greetings Mt. Vernon Family,

So, we are Christ's ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, "Come back to God!" 2Co. 5:20 NLT.

In these unprecedented times of mass gun violence, racial injustice, pandemics, and partisan politics, it is easy to lose sight of God’s agenda for Christians here on earth. Paul reminds us that as Christians we are Christ’s ambassadors, meaning this earth is not our home. Our true citizenship is in heaven (Phil. 3:20). Our temporary assignment here on earth is to represent the kingdom of God. Our mission is to partner with God in making disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Yes, we must fight for better gun legislation, racial equality, voting rights, and the rights of the poor and disenfranchised, but we must keep the main thing, the main thing. The main thing is to partner with God in calling people to faith in Jesus Christ and discipleship. Let’s represent. Amen!
