Greetings Mt. Vernon in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,

For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths. (2Ti 4:3-4 NLT)

In Matthew 24, the disciples came to Jesus and asked Him, “What will be the sign of your coming and, of the end of the age?” Jesus said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you.” Jesus’ answer implies that people somehow play apart in being misled or not being misled. The apostle Paul tells us there will be people who will follow their own desires, cravings, and lusts of the flesh, rather than the truth (2Tim 4:3-4). They will abandon God’s way of sanctification and seek out others to help them justify their lifestyle or sinful behavior. Sanctification is a lifelong process for the believer. When the Holy Spirit convicts us of a particular sin, we confess it. Confession means we agree with God about our sin. We do not deny or minimize our sin. We do not make excuses for our sin. We do not blame others, but we call that thing exactly what it is. Then we repent of our sin. We turn from that sin back to God. Finally, we say no to sin and walk away from it trusting God and His power, not our own. God’s word has not changed, but He has made a way for us to live up to His word, His standards, rather than down to the standards of our sinful flesh.

Be Richly Blessed!
