That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe 1Ti 4:10.

Hope keeps us alert and watchful in good times as well as troubled and difficult times. Hope anchors our soul. It keeps us from drifting. Hope keeps us focused. The hope of our calling pulls us forward in faith. We keep pursuing our God given purpose. Hope is not positive thinking or faith in faith. Hope is the confident expectation of things to come, specifically what God says will come. Paul says our hope is fixed on God and because we hope in the person of God and what He promises in His word, we labor and strive for godliness. We want to be like our Father for godliness benefits us in this life and the life to come.
