Greetings Mt. Vernon Family,

If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up for all of us, will he not with him also give us everything else? (Rom 8:30 NRS)

This past Tuesday November 3rd, was the last day for Americans to cast their votes in the presidential election. What many African Americans experienced in the first twenty- four hours of the polls closing was a deep sadness over the division in our country now made evident by our votes. This election not only exposed a division along political party lines, but along racial, ethnic, and ideological lines as well. The knee on the neck, the racial unrest, the protests, and living amid a pandemic where Black and Brown people have suffered the most has left us exhausted. Yet half of the country attended rallies without masks and voted as if our lives do not matter. But our lives do matter, not only to ourselves, but to the One Who matters most. Our lives matter so much to God, that He gave His only begotten Son Who matters most to Him. God gave up His Son on an old rugged cross to save us. When a relationship with God is what matters most to us and we put our faith in Jesus Christ, we are saved, justified, born again. We become joint heirs with Jesus Christ whom God made Lord over everything. That how much our lives matter to God.

Amen!

Pastor Deborah Giles
