Greetings Mt. Vernon Family,

And Jesus called His disciples to Him, and said, "I feel compassion for the people, because they have remained with Me now three days and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, for they might faint on the way." Mat 15:32.

In football, teams often huddle in a tight circle to strategize and communicate the next play against their opponents. Team members are motivated and often celebrate with a shout as they break the huddle and assume their positions for action. Throughout the gospels we find the disciples huddling with Jesus. Sometimes the disciples came to Jesus to ask questions. At other times, Jesus called the disciples to Him. It helps to think of this time of covid-19 as a time when believers can huddle under the shadow of God’s wings. Through prayer, worship, Bible study, and fellowship via Face Time, telephone, text, WebEx, etc., we are in a huddle with Jesus and one another. Jesus is a compassionate Savior who calls the plays. We must listen to His voice, assume the position (surrender), and be ready to serve.

Amen!

Pastor Deborah Giles
