Hello Mt. Vernon Church Family,

We have experienced several messages on Hope to help us heal from the 4 years of trauma, pain, disappointment and sadness that we have experienced. Let’s decide to lean into our grief and decide to live a new normalcy. Let’s continue to work on our grief in survival mode now. What can you do differently that will bring you joy, bring you peace and help you gain happiness? What strides must you take to help your yourself, your children, your grandchildren and extended family? Friends, you are not in this struggle alone. Please make a plan for your holidays that will continue to ignite hope and joy in your lives. Deviate from your normal Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations to take away sadness and make them great!

As we strive to live by faith and not by sight, let’s begin to take inventory of our blessings. Please write down as many blessings as you can think of between now and Thanksgiving Day. Don’t share your blessings with anyone else. On Thanksgiving morning, fold your list and seal it in an envelope and write Pastor Hazel’s name on it. Please bring it to church on November 27th and lay it on the altar. The parishioner that is thankful for the most blessings will receive a gift card.

Happy Challenge!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Rev. Hazeline “Hazel” Jackson
