Greetings Mt. Vernon Family,
This Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent. The start of a new year on the Christian calendar. The word “advent” simply means coming, approaching, or arrival. Advent is a time when the Church is reminded that Christ did come to Bethlehem in a manger and He is coming back again. As Mary and Joseph had to make preparations for the arrival of the Christ Child, we too must “Stay On The Ready,” for we do not know the day or the hour that Christ will return for His Church. So, we celebrate His birth, but we live in anticipation of His coming. Covid-19 and social distancing have changed the way we celebrate our Holy Days. Stay safe. Stay prayerful. Stay hopeful and faithful. Love one another and live to celebrate next year’s Holy Days.
Amen!
Pastor Deborah Giles
