Hello Mt. Vernon Church Family,
We are in the Season of Advent, the Season of waiting. Sunday is the second Sunday of Advent; however, it is also Communion Sunday. We will discuss establishing Peace in our lives, even in the midst of turmoil, corruption, pandemics, unemployment, inflation, televised church, low in-person attendance at church, separation from friends and family, and the list continues. How is this possible? How can God suggest having peace when there is so much discontent?
Ephesians 2: 14-22 expresses that God is our Peace. He has created a new humanity as one body due to His death on the cross. We have access to the Spirit of the Father, because we believe in the Trinity, God the Father, Jesus, the Son, and the living Power of the Holy Spirit! We accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior; we know He is coming again; we know He loves us unconditionally and that our sins are forgiven when we repent; we know that when we are obedient, that He will not withhold any good thing from us; we know that when we are obedient, all of our needs will be provided according to His will. Should this be reason enough to live peacefully each day? Of course, it is! When we are covered by Jesus’ blood, living obedient lives, working as hard as we can, treating others as we want to be treated, sharing what we have with those in need, saving all we can and giving God our first fruit, not our leftover pennies, we can live in peace that surpasses all understanding! God has us in His hands and we trust Him with our very lives. Peace is ours for the asking! Ask and try it on for size! Read daily devotions, pray, meditate, build an unbreakable relationship with Jesus, and live in peace! You will be glad you did! See you Sunday!!
