Greetings Mt. Vernon Family,

And so, because it was the Jewish day of Preparation, and the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there (John 19:42). After Jesus was crucified, Joseph of Arimathea took responsibility for Jesus burial. He went to Pilate and ask for Jesus body. Joseph and Nicodemus both leaders in the Jewish council prepared Jesus body with myrrh and aloes and laid Him in a tomb Joseph purchased. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary sat opposite the tomb looking on as Jesus is buried (Mat. 27:61). The men hurried to put Jesus in the tomb because at 6:00 pm the Sabbath began. The irony of it all is that it is none other than the Lord of the Sabbath, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world who has been crucified. Yet, on the day of preparation Joseph and Nicodemus hurry to bury Jesus so they could observe the Sabbath. Easter is the holiest day of the Christian calendar. A day worthy of us taking the time to examine ourselves and prepare our souls. Thanks to all of you who fasted and prayed with us through this Lenten season. If you fasted and prayed one day, one week or the full forty days of the Lenten season, thank you. But it is the Lord Jesus whom we consecrate or prepare our souls for. It is the Lord Jesus whom we celebrate. Join us Sunday as we celebrate His Resurrection! Be Richly Blessed, Pastor Deborah Giles P.S. Our Daniel Fast ends tomorrow Saturday April 3, at 6:00 pm.
