Greetings Mt. Vernon Family,
John 2:5 His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do it."
The apostle John tells us that Jesus performed His first miracle at a wedding in Cana of Galilee. Mary the mother of Jesus attended the wedding along with Jesus and His disciples. The wine runs out and Mary brings it to Jesus’ attention. Jesus responds, “Woman, what does that have to do with us? My hour has not yet come.” Mary does not answer Jesus, but instead she tells the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do it." Today we might say, “Yeah, what He says!” Even Jesus' own mother understood that it is “What He says.” While God will never ask us to sin, and God does not force His will on us, He will at times ask us to do strange things. Jesus once told Peter, go throw a hook in the sea and the first fish you catch, open its mouth and you will find money to pay our taxes Mat.17:27. “Yeah, what He says.” At the wedding in Cana Jesus asked the servants to fill six thirty-gallon water pots with water and draw some out and take it to the head waiter to taste. The servants did “What He said.” Not only did the wedding party have more wine than the people could drink, but it was some of the best wine they had ever tasted. We are made for miracles! Jesus is looking for someone to partner with to do miracles, someone who will do “What He says.” Amen!
Be Richly Blessed,
Pastor Deborah Giles
