Greetings Mt. Vernon Family,
He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming quickly." Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! Revelation 22:20
In the early 1980’s I studied end time prophecy; the rapture, the tribulation, the second coming of Jesus. It was, and is exciting to know that our Savior will return to this earth again. In Titus 2:13, Paul calls Jesus appearing in all His glory our “blessed hope.” The book of Revelation points us towards some of the darkest days in history. But after all the wars, famines, plagues, the antichrist, and the martyrdom of those who believe, Satan is bound, then thrown into the lake of fire. The books are opened and people will be judged. There is a new heaven and a new earth where God will dwell among His people. Jesus is the One who testifies of the things to come. He says, "Surely I am coming quickly.” The apostle John replies, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” Having even a vague understanding of what is to come gives me hope. Yes, I believe in standing for social justice, civil rights, fairness and equity, and caring for the least of these, but I also believe the testimony that Jesus gives us in the book of Revelation. Life on earth will get worse before it gets better and maybe in our lifetime. But knowing in the end, I will be with my Savior and Lord gives me hope! Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
Be Richly Blessed,
Pastor Deborah Giles
