Greetings Mt. Vernon Family,
1 Sam. 3:10 Now the LORD came and stood and called as at other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel answered, "Speak, for Your servant hears."
Invisible broadcast waves are everywhere waiting for us to turn on our devices (television, radio, cell phone) and receive communication. God is everywhere present. He is always at work and He is always communicating, but are we tuned in? As a child Samuel had to be instructed on how to listen to God, how to tune in and receive God’s message. At some point the questions all believers ask are, “How does God speak? How do I listen to God? And how do I know if God is really speaking to me? These are all good questions. The Holy Spirit lives in all born again believers. He came to guide us into all truth John 16:13. The Holy Spirit speaks to our thoughts, He impresses His thoughts and purpose on our hearts and minds, but His thoughts and purpose will always agree with the Bible. After all the Holy Spirit inspired those who wrote the Bible 2 Pet.1:20-21. God uses circumstances and events to communicate His truth and provoke change. God also uses people to speak and confirm His message. God still speaks through dreams and visions. Whether we have a thought, a vision, a dream or someone gives us a message, it must line up with the word of God, the Bible. God does not contradict Godself. It is therefore important that we study the word of God. The Bible is God’s primary source of speaking to us. His will is His Word. Amen.
Be Richly Blessed,
Pastor Deborah Giles
