Greetings Mt. Vernon Family,
Hebrews 4:15-16 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who in every respect has been tested as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Having access and favor with people in high places is considered a privilege. We have a saying, “It’s not what you know but who you know.” As Christians, we have access to God. We can communicate with Him through prayer, courtesy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This privilege did not come cheap. It was paid for by the blood of Jesus. His blood expiates, it cleanses us of sin. The blood of Jesus is also the propitiation for our sins, meaning it turns away the wrath of God. The writer of Hebrews tells us Jesus sympathizes with our weaknesses and was tested in every respect as we are. He knows our sinfulness. He knows what we are going through. Yet He invites us to come boldly to the throne of grace in prayer. Instead of judgment we will find mercy and favor we do not deserve in our time of need. Don’t let Satan tell you that you are unworthy of God’s blessings. Hebrews 4:16 tells us to come and come boldly. Amen!
