Greetings Mt. Vernon Family,

"Therefore, you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect Luke 12:40.”

This Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent. The start of a new year on the Christian calendar. The word “advent” simply means coming, approaching, or arrival. Advent is a time when the Church is reminded that Christ did come to Bethlehem in a manger and He is coming back again. As Mary and Joseph had to make preparations for the arrival of the Christ Child, we too must prepare our souls for His coming. We “Stay on The Ready,” for we do not know the day or the hour that Christ will return for His Church. So, we celebrate His birth, but we live in anticipation of His coming by believing, living, and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Amen!

Pastor Deborah Giles
